PAMPAS PROGRAM CURRICULUM | Information | Tour
Instruction: Students take classes with UGA faculty and members of the affiliated host country institutions. No knowledge of Spanish required. The instruction form consists of lectures and field work. Two thirds of the classes are carried out in the field across the Pampas Plains, Pampean Ranges, Precordillera, Cordillera Frontal and Cordillera Principal geologic units in Central-Western Argentina.
Core Courses:
- Earth Processes and Environments (GEOL 1121): 3 credits (Satisfies Environmental Literacy)
- Earth Processes and Environments Lab (GEOL 1121L): 1 credit
- History of Global Change (GEOL 1122): 3 credits (Satisfies Environmental Literacy)
- History of Global Change Lab (GEOL 1122L) 1 credit
Upper Division Science Electives: One of the core courses can satisfy the co-requisite for students who need an upper division science course, but have never taken Geology before.
- Geology of Argentina (GEOL 3100): 3 credits*
- Rocks and Minerals (GEOL 3200): 3 credits
- Field Methods (GEOL 4250): 2 credits*
- GEOL 3100 together with GEOL 4250 satisfy one of the upper division elective requirements for Geology majors at UGA.
Spanish Course:
Intermediate Spanish (SPAN 2001): 3 credits
